Host-finding in Trematodes

We are currently investigating the following trematode species:

Diplostomatidae:

• Diplostomum spathaceum

Echinostomatidae:

• Echinostoma caproni
• Istmiophora melis
• Pseudechinoparyphium echinatum

Fasciolidae:

• Fasciola hepatica

Schistosomatidae:

• Schistosoma mansoni
• Trichobilharzia ocellata

In a greater context we are comparing the host-finding stategies of miracidia and cercariae of these different species. We also try to find specific PCR primers for the detection different Trematode species.
